PILOT #3
L’ARGENTIÈRE-LA-BESSÉE
PROVENCE-ALPES-CÔTE D’AZUR - FRANCE
L’Argentière can be glimpsed as one descends the hairpin bends of the Montgenèvre Pass: it lies at the bottom of the valley between the placid course of the Durance that runs towards the Rhone and, from there, to the Tyrrhenian Sea and the large infrastructures that surround the valley: a penstock, an imposing overhead power line and the sign in the landscape of the warehouses abandoned by Pechiney, the French multinational aluminum company that had an important operational headquarters here until the mid-1980s.
